Company History
The company was founded on 10.4.1947 under the name Manufaktura Galanterija. Two years later it was renamed to Tekstil mestni magazin, and in 1950 it was registered as Tekstil grosistično podjetje. On 23.11.1995 the company was registered as the joint-stock company TEKSTIL d.d.
The company was rapidly expanding and the premises in Mala ulica in the city centre became irrational. A long-time wish to move to a more favourable location and more rational business premises came true in 1998 when we bought a big warehouse with offices at Letališka ulica 34 and moved there. Our offices in Mala ulica were let out on lease.
We carried out the first capital investment in 1997 by purchasing the majority of shares of the companies Bala d.d. and Galeb d.d., which were the next year followed by the capital investment in the company Elita d.d. Kranj. In 1999, we joined the company Volna d.d. and the last investment was made in 2001 with the purchase of the majority of the holding Novoteks d.o.o.
In this way we have indirectly increased our retail network, as they are all trading companies whose core business is the sale of goods. So, since the end of 2008 the group Tekstil d.d. has had 93 retail shops altogether.
